LASTVEB partners Transtouch to boost technical skills

IN its quest to boost vocational skills among Nigerian youth, the Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board, LASTVEB, and Transtouch International Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, to train students, with Lagos technical college as pioneer.

Speaking during the event held at LASTVEB corporate office, Ikeja, its acting Executive Secretary, Engr. Laolu Oguntuyi said: ‘’The partnership with Transtouch will boost students technical skills in computer graphics and telephone repair.”

According to him, the collaboration is necessary to build a strong vocational education system that will drive Nigeria’s industrialisation process.

He explained that Nigeria would need a pool of youths with necessary technical skills to get over the dearth in unemployment ravaging the teaming youth.

Oguntuyi who maintained that many Nigerian graduates lack the required technical skills for employment, added that the partnership with the information technical firm  will assist the interested trainees to acquire good human relations and skills to enhance productivity.

Reacting to the collaboration, the Managing Director, Transtouch International Limited, Mr Collins Uwadia said: ‘’Globally, no country ever grows without given adequate attention to vocational skills.’’

Uwadia who was the former graduate of LASTVEB said that with his wealth of experience he had acquired both nationally and internationally, he is determine to impact  same to the Nigerian youth through strategic organised  training.

His words: ‘’Transtouch major objective is to ignite passion for creativity and entrepreneurial exploit among technical students as we boost their confidence in technical and vocational education. ‘’We will ensure that youth pursuit of technical skills in their chosen careers will distinguish them from others. We have started from Lagos, God helping us, we shall proceed to other states of this country.’’
