Provide power, repair roads in your host communities, Wike tells Agip

PORT HARCOURT— GOVERNOR Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has enjoined Nigerian Agip Oil Company, NAOC, to provide electricity to residents at Mgboshimini , Obio Akpor Local Government Area of the state where it has its administrative headquarters.

The governor spoke when he embarked on facility tour of the administrative building. The governor also urged the oil company to rehabilitate the road leading to the office complex of the multinational , saying they should deliver these projects as part of their corporate social responsibility to their host community.

He commended the oil giant for its various projects in the state, promising that he will continue to make the state safe for their operations. “I commend  NAOC  for its numerous corporate  projects  across the state. But the state of this road to the administrative headquarters  of  the company gives the company  a negative  image.

“I urge the company to reconstruct  this road.  I also call on the company  to ensure that it provide electricity  to the host community  of its administrative  headquarters as it had done elsewhere.” He said he will demolish shanties around the office complex to rid the area  of hoodlums.

Group Managing Director of the oil company,  Mr Marco Rotondi said Agip has been involved in several corporate social projects in its host communities,  adding that it will continue to focus on developing agriculture, health, education and train people on various skills for human development.
