UMUAHIA—The lingering leadership crisis that had bedeviled Abia state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has been resolved, with the two factions coming together to pursue a common goal of taking control of Abia in 2019.

This followed a peace meeting brokered by the zonal leadership of the party, which brought the two factions together and harmonized offices in the state executive committee of the party.

The peace meeting brought together some leaders and stakeholders of the party, including Chief Ikechi Emenike, Senator Nkechi Nwogu, Fabian Nwankwo, Hon. Acho Obioma and the party’s 2015 governorship candidate, Chief Nyerere Anyim, among others, who all resolved to bury their differences and work together and reposition the party ahead of 2019 elections.

The harmonization saw Chief Donatus Nwankpa retaining his office as the state chairman, while chairman of the other faction, Mr. Fabian Okonkwo now functioned as the party’s zonal organizing secretary.

The South East National Vice-chairman of the party, Chief Emma Enukwu, who presided over the reconciliation meeting, stressed that Abia APC needed the support of every member in order to win Abia State in 2019.

“The assignment of the state chairman and his new executives is to work hard to ensure that we take over Abia state in 2019,” Enukwu charged them.

In his remarks, Nyerere Anyim said: “Henceforth, no more Emenike group and Nyerere group. We are brothers; we are together.” He charged the new state executive of the party to move the party forward with the zeal they started the party.
