Abuja court asked to sack Ogun PDP leaders

By Ikechukwu Nnochiri

ABUJA—Two chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Moyo Agoro and Alhaji Taofeek Oshundara, have approached the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court, asking it to sack the leadership of the party in Ogun State.

The plaintiffs, through their suit marked  FHC/ABJ/CS/185/2016, contended that the tenure of Executives of the party in the state had since elapsed.

They prayed the court to hold that the continued stay of the Ogun State PDP Excos in office, is illegal and a gross violation of the Constitution of the party.

Aside PDP and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, other defendants in the suit are Chief Adebayo Dayo and Alhaji Semiu Sodipo, who were sued for themselves and on behalf of Ogun State Working Committee of the PDP.

The litigants maintained that since the tenure of the executives has expired, it was wrong for both the national leadership of the party and INEC to still accord them recognition.

Consequently, the plaintiffs, through their lawyer, Mr. Ehi Uwuaifoh, prayed the court to determine whether by virtue of Section 47 (1) Chapter 6 of the PDP constitution, the tenure of the Chief Adebayo Dayo-led State Working Committee and State Executive Committee of the Ogun State PDP which was elected and inaugurated on February 28, 2012, has not expired by effluxion of time.
