ABAKALIKI—ACTION Congress, AC, candidte in the 6 February 2010, Anambra governorship election, Dr. Chris Ngige, has faulted the attackers on him over his petition before the Governorship Election Tribunal sitting in Awka, demanding justice in the election he feels he was shortchanged.
Ngige Campaign Oganisation in Awka, in a statement yesterday, said that AC was surprised that even those who claim to be demanding for democracy in Nigeria, have lost touch with recent history, that even Governor Obi was a beneficiary of justice through the court of law. It therefore said that commentators on the Anambra election should be rather objective.
Ngige said the issues he had brought before the court were issues, which the resolutions would contribute to the promotion and strengthening of Nigeria’s democracy, no matter the outcome. “It is therefore beyond Peter Obi or Chris Ngige.†He added that challenging the outcome of an election by any aggrieved candidate is a continuation of an electoral process and cannot amount to a disservice to the state or anybody, whatsoever.
“Resort to court of law to ventilate grievances by any aggrieved party is the most acceptable and civilized option available to any such party,†he said.
