Announces date for 2016 Lagos Motor Fair
The Managing Director of BKG Exhibitions, organisers of the Lagos Motor show, Auto parts Expo and Abuja Motor show, Mr. Ifeanyi Agwu has advised the Federal Government to pay more attention to the nation’s auto sector, saying that the sector was too important to be ignored.
Mr. Agwu, who made this appeal while announcing the date for this year’s Lagos Motor show and Auto parts Expo, noted that in America, the auto sector was among the first things the Obama’s government addressed because of its importance to the country’s economy.
“The auto sector is very key to any country’s economy, generating revenue to the government and employment to the teaming youths,” he said.
Continuing, he said, “no serious government ignores the auto sector, rather it finds a way to revive it in the interest of the citizenry.
He added that the sector is a major artery in the life of any administration.
To this end, he urged the Federal Government to talk to the stakeholders in the sector to enable the nation reap the benefits of the sectors, adding “that their determination to go ahead with this year’s motor show was to bring players together under one arena.
He, however, submitted that if the players fail to come together using the avenue created by the Lagos Motor show, it means that they have surrendered to tough times.
“We are asking every stakeholder in the sector to show up at the event because it would demonstrate their collective strength and doggedness to survive at a trying time, he said.
Giving details of the 2016 Lagos Motor show, which hold from April 28 to May 4, at the Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos, the BKG boss noted that they would have given up to the tough time but for their determination.
He said: “People thought we won’t host it this year due to the economic downturn but we have since discovered that people are still driving their cars on the road and no car shop has closed down. But we have decided to take a new approach to it.”
The new approach, he stated, is developing new option for marketing, customer relationship and the future of the industry because things are not going to remain like this forever. “Because of this, we have new opportunities to educate people and the government to enable us keep business in the auto sector alive,” he added.
The BKG boss noted that his company was committed to the growth of the auto sector of the country and appealed to all concerned to not to let the sector die.
“The sector should not give up. It should not die, as its major contributor to the economy it is too big to be swept under the carpet. “How can you take your goods from one point to the other without land transportation which accounts for 80 percent of our movement in Nigeria?
