The Youth Sports Federation Of Nigeria YSFON has concluded preparations to resurrect and launch new tournaments that would avail youths in the nation opportunities to develop their talents and contribute their quota to the development of the society.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 2016 RAMAT Cup Tournament in Kano, YSFON President, Nasir Gawuna urged all hands to be on deck in order to engender youth development through sports.
Gawuna specifically urged the Nigerian Navy to revive the Chief of Naval Staff U-16 boys and NOWA U-17 girls Cup, even has he begged for the reintroduction of the Esuene cup, the late MKO Abiola Cup and the Abidoye cup amongst others.
Also speaking. Technical Director of YSFON Abdulgafar Agboola said that outstanding talents spotted at the Ramat Cup were going to be invited,groomed and exposed, adding that the players will form the crux of the new “YSFON Stars that will feature at the Dallas Cup in the USA.
While speaking on the challenges that YSFO was facing, National Secretary, Patrick Akpavuerhe said it was necessary for the states YSFON executives to rise to the new reality on ground to ensure that they were not not left behind in the season of change.
He added that all states have been mandated to send a team to Benin next month for the Oba of Benin Youth tournament
