According to the statement by Issa Aremu, General Secretary, NUTGTWN and Chairman, IndustriALL Global Union, Sub Saharan Africa, stakeholders should also take the advantage of the proposed public hearing to bring to the fore all the issues dealing with the value chains in the power sector.

While insisting that with the singular exhibition of prompt oversight responsibility the National Assembly had shown the parliament was a vent for public grievances,  the union’s statement read in part: “We call on the authorities particularly the generating and distribution companies to obey the legislative order and revert to the old tariff.

”Also we call on the stakeholders to take the advantage of the proposed public hearing to bring to the fore all the issues dealing with the value chains in the power sector. The point cannot be overstated; Nigeria should move from power poverty to power prosperity and the solution lies in increased public investment in generation and distribution.

“The regulatory commission must also be equitable to all stakeholders and look at the bigger picture of national Development.”
