A chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State, Olorogun Okiemute Okwagbe, has condemned the proposal by the Minister of Transportation and Aviation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, to scrap the Nigerian Maritime University, NMU, Okerenkoko, Delta State.
He described the alleged move as an error and a show of insensitivity to the plight of the people of the Niger Delta in particular and Nigerians in general.
He said: “Amaechi has lost touch with the roots of his political career.’’
Speaking in Warri, Okwagbe argued that the idea was an agenda meant to serve selfish and clannish interests, emphasizing that Gbaramatu Kingdom contributes immensely to the national treasury through oil production.
According to him, the cancellation proposed by the Minister will be counter productive because the reasons are meant to settle cheap scores which are not in line with the general development agenda of the nation.
