The National and State House of Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Osogbo, Osun State capital, has declared Babajide Omoworare as the duly elected Senator representing Osun East Senatorial District of the state.

The Tribunal chairman, Justice A.G.Kwajaffa, while ruling on the case instituted by Prince Francis Fadahunsi, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 28, 2015 election, said Senator Omoworare of the All Progressives Congress (APC) scored the highest number of votes to emerge the winner of the election.

Prince Fadahunsi had approached the tribunal to cancel the verdict of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which declared Omoworare as the winner of the election on the ground that the election did not hold in some polling units in some local governments in the senatorial district.
