THE lawmaker representing Bayelsa East Senatorial District, Senator Ben Murray Bruce, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to prioritise education in the fight against terrorism in the country, stressing that Nigeria should fight fire with water not fire.

The #Commonsense proponent argued that education must attract a larger share of Nigeria’s budget than security if the country must defeat terrorism.

“If we must really defeat terrorism, education must attract a larger share of Nigeria’s budget than security. Fight fire with water not fire,” he posted on his Twitter handle, @benmurraybruce.

The radical Islamist sect Boko Haram, is blamed for the deaths of at least 15,000 people during a six-year-insurgency, mainly in Nigeria’s northeast.
