Osogbo—The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, yesterday advised Governor Rauf Aregbesola to conduct local government elections without further delay.

The party, in a statement signed by Prince Diran Odeyemi, the PDP spokesperson, copies of which were sent to newsmen in Osogbo, said the last local government poll held in the state was conducted by a PDP-led government in 2007.

The statement reads: “What Aregbesola did shortly after the tenure of those elected in 2007 ended was to appoint his party men and gave them title of executive secretaries till date thereby spending 8 years in office

“Since 2011, they have been in office, illegally administering the 30 council areas and one area office in the state. Statutory monthly allocation that has gone to them since 2007 runs into billions and yet they are not accountable to anyone but only Aregbesola while there are no evidence of development in the local governments.”

Beside, the party also called on Governor Rauf Aregbesola to come out clear on the status of the former commissioners that served in his cabinet during his first term in office.
