Jos—Two people have been reportedly killed in Gana Ropp and Kurra Falls, while crops were destroyed in Gashish of Barkin Ladi and Jol of Riyom Local Government areas of Plateau State.
The road leading to Bokkos Local Government Area was reportedly blocked by gunmen, but security personnel from the Special Task Force, STF, are said to be patrolling the areas to forestall further breakdown of law and order.
Meanwhile, the state government yesterday imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in the two affected councils.
In a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Mr. Rufus Bature, “The curfew starts 6p.m., and ends at 6a.m. Enough security personnel have been deployed to protect life and property.”
Hostilities, it was gathered resumed in Barkin Ladi in the last five days, particularly in Kassa and Bisichi, where over 10 people had lost their lives but Riyom, which had a few weeks of reprieve, is witnessing fresh attacks.
It will be recalled that the Commander of the Special Task Force, STF, Major-General Tabugbo Ude had appealed to elders, especially in the Northern zone of the state irrespective of religion or tribe to prevail on the youths to desist from engaging in criminal activities and taking laws into their hands.
He said: “Isolated killings and reprisal attacks being carried out by the youths are worrisome,” but assured that STF will do everything to control the situation.
