LOKOJA—Governor of Kogi State, Capt. Idris Wada, yesterday, said he was not surprised of being accused of under performing in the state, noting that he never expected commendations from his opponents.

Wada at an interactive session with newsmen in Lagos, said Kogi was now in a better condition than he met it four years ago.

The governor noted that having taken the state out of the poor condition, the chances of being re-elected in the forthcoming governorship poll in the state were bright.

He recalled that some of those who contested the last primaries with him and lost still felt bitter over the incident, insisting that he has touched every sector of the state.

He cited the prestigious Hall of Grace (HOG) Award as ‘The Governor of the Year, as one of the public attestations to his achievements.

Continuing, Wada regretted that inability of exploiting the abundant  natural resources in the state, is due to security challenge.

In addition, he said that agriculture had remained a beacon of hope for creating opportunity for employment and an increase in the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

Speaking further, Wada said that that the tourism industry was already receiving a boost under his administration with the restoration of historic sites in the state.
