Ibadan—Oyo State Police Command said yesterday that it had discovered a kidnappers’ hideout at Oyagbe area in Oyo town.

A herdsman, Hussein Sani, who had been held for about two weeks was reportedly rescued from the claws of the kidnappers.

According to Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Muhammadu Katsina, five suspected kidnappers were arrested for alleged involvement in the offence.

The suspects were said to have come from Benin Republic and settled at Oyo in Atiba Local Government Area of the state.

He said: “A ground breaking discovery was made yet again and this time in Oyo town, where some wicked individuals kidnapped a fellow human for ransom.

“We have so far arrested five people connected with the crime, including the hotelier, and the victim Saki Fulani is now in our custody.”

The victim, Sani, said he was abducted at Ogbomoso, adding that he ate rice for the period he was in captivity.

The police commissioner added that Sani’s abductors demanded a ransom of N1 million and that if he failed to produce it, he would be killed.

The hotelier, Olatunji Kabiru, who owns the hotel where the kidnappers used, denied knowledge of the crime.

He said the kidnappers had deposited N5,000.
