Police vow to arrest killers of Enugu monarch

ENUGU—Worried by outcries elicited by the killing,weekend, of the traditional ruler of Isienu Amofu,Nkerefi community in Nkanu-East Local Government Area of Enugu State, Igwe Peter Onuoha, and three others,the Enugu Police command has assured members of the public of its determination to arrest the masterminds.

Other victims who were killed when unknown gunmen struck the community under the cover of darkness are; husband and wife,Ejike Udeme Uzor, Evelyn Udeme Uzor and Daniel Ogbu.

The incident had thrown the community and its environs into mourning even as the motive behind the dastardly act appears nebulous.

Vanguard gathered that tension has built up in the community following fears of reprisal attack from supporters of the traditional ruler.

However,the Police Public Relations Officer,PPRO,Enugu Police command,Mr. Ebere Amaraizu has assured members of the public of its resolve to arrest the killers in a timely manner.

The police spokesperson said,”we already have a list of the suspects who may have committed the act. We have launched manhunt on them and we are closing-in on them.

“Our operatives have been drafted to the community to forestall further breakdown of law and order through reprisal attacks. We are working round the clock to unmask the killers and bring them to justice.

“Calm has returned to the area following the presence of our operatives who are bent on ensuring safety of lives and property.”
