Lagos — OFFICIALS of federal and states Ministry of Justice in the country yesterday  met to review the  problems bedeviling the sector and ways to solve them, saying “the time is now for the country to harmonise positions on different justice sector reforms to reduce unnecessary delay in the criminal delivery system.

Participants which included Solicitor-General of the Federation, Abdullahi Yola; Chief Judges and Attorneys-General from the states, lamented that over the years, efforts at harmonising positions yielded little results and emphasisesd the urgent need for stakeholders in the country to work together on Justice sector reforms.

Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Inumidun Akande, who was represented by Justice Ayo Phillips, described the gathering as a welcome development and  assured that the Lagos State judiciary would support the initiative for a robust justice sector reforms.

The programme was spearheaded by the National Network of Reform Teams set up by the Federal Ministry of Justice in collaboration with Security, Justice and Growth Programme of DFID.
