Commonwealth and African long jump champion, Ese Brume is hoping to put her 2015 season back on track at the Athletics Federation of Nigeria golden league meet Saturday at the Federal University of Technology Akure, Ondo State.
Brume, with a personal best of 6.68m, came into limelight last year, when she won back to back titles at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Scotland and the African championships in Marakesh, Morocco. She stated that her aim is to repeat the feat at the All Africa Games, but her first outing this season at the first golden league meet in Onitsha didn’t match her expectations.
“That was why I did not go to the Abuja golden league. I wanted to train and get back into form. I will be in Akure to put things back together,”said the soft spoken Brume who is also the African junior champion.
In other events, Nicholas Imhoaperamhe and Nkem Ezealah, will be aiming to consolidate their hold in the men and women 100m respectively. Oluwatosin Adeloye will also seek to improve on her timing in the women’s 400 metres.
