CALABAR—SENATOR Liyel Imoke, the outgoing governor of Cross River State, has lashed out at governorship aspirants, who lost the contest and have resorted to the court to challenge the emergence of Senator Ben Ayade on technical grounds, saying that anyone who gets into office through such means would not enjoy the support of the people.
Imoke, during a valedictory media interaction with newsmen in his office, said Ayade went through a process which was credible, fair and free and enjoyed the support of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, members during the primaries and got the support of the bulk of the people of the state at the general elections and should, therefore, be supported by all to succeed.
“Those who scored minimally during the primaries are now resorting to technicalities just to subvert the will of the people.”
