A 34-year-old welder, Mr. Rotimi Daramola has told an Alimosho Grade ‘B’ Customary court that his wife of 13 years, Mrs Adeola Daramola was so promiscuous to the extent that he has to reject her pregnancy, on the suspicion that she was impregnated by one of his intimate friends.
Daramola who told the court in his his testimony that he suddenly developed hatred for the woman he promised to love till death do them part because of her alleged waywardness.
The artisan, dark in complexion and heavily bearded who claimed to have met his wife at a first generation church in 1996 at Akowonjo, Lagos told the court that he has to send the woman packing from their matrimonial home when it was clear that she was allegedly going out with his very close friend, simply identified as Tunde.
According to an aggrieved Daramola, their marriage was blessed with a 12-year-old boy, though he was yet to  formalise the relationship and no bride price paid.
The petitioner who resides at 27, Iwajowa Street, Dopemu said that he became very suspicious  when he heard from the woman’s parent that she was six months pregnant.
“I was surprised few months after she left my house, her parents came to inform me that their daughter was about six months pregnant. I denied the pregnancy initially but when she finally put to bed, I found out that the little baby resembled my (Rotimi’s) father so much, and that really convinced me that I am the biological father of the baby boy.
“I had no choice than to accept the baby, but I warned her seriously, to stop being wayward and to turn a new leaf, so that I will push the ugly incidents behind me.â€
Daramola said he was surprised that shortly after he rebuked her his wife allegedly returned to her old ways. He said the wife satrted having affairs with his friend Tunde   When she secured a job with the state government at the Alausa state Secretariat, Ikeja.
“When she got the job, I initially opposed  her taken the appointment, but I have no choice when people  started pestering me to allow her. I later found out that she used the job as an excuse  to meet the man.
He said that rather than send the woman away he thought of getting back at her by going after women in the neighbourhood but he had to beat because he is a church teacher. He said he did not want to be seen  as a bad example to the church.
“It got to a stage, that I had to sleep in my church for over four months because I was trying to avoid her. I reported the matter to her father, but the old man’s advice always fell on her deaf ear. What really baffled me was that she hit our only child on the chest because the boy promised to tell me some of her activities. She also told the boy to inform me so that I can do whatever I can.â€
To this end, he prayed the court to separate them without delay and also grant him the custody of their only child.
Opening her defence, the 31 year-old Adeola who works in the office of the Deputy Governor, Alausa, confessed to the court that she had been going out with Tunde, before she met Rotimi, her husband. She disclosed that  she did not know that both men were close friends.
Adeola who resides at 13, Adeola Bello Street, Orisunmibare, Shasha denied the allegation of infidelity levelled against her, and said that one of her husband’s family member who doesn’t like her has been working against her interest and at the same time influenced her husband’s decision to institute the divorce suit.
Denying beating her child to prevent him revealing her bad behaviours, Adeola said she only did that to prevent the small boy from stealing
She told the court that she does not love Rotimi anymore, because he always keep grudges against her.
The president of the court, Alhaji S.A. Olawole  adjourned the matter to February 10, 2010 for judgment.
