ILORIN-The Commanding Officer of Nigerian Airforce,Ilorin base,Commodore Yekeen Ishola has said that Nigerian Police Force alone cannot not effectively tackle the rising cases of insecurity in the country and therefore called for effective collaboration of other security agencies of government in order to successfully fight crimes.

He explained that,” in a democratic government that Nigeria is going through,though it is the constitutional responsibilities of the Nigerian Police to provide security for the residents,but with various ongoing developments and events,it is obvious that the police alone cannot do it if the residents must enjoy reasonable peace,so there is the need for active involvements of other security agencies of government to do it.”

Air commodore Ishola said this at the weekend at the ‎Gbagba base of the command,Ilorin during the Medical Outreach of the command to residents in the community to commemorate the 51st Anniversary of the Nigeria Air Force in the command.

The commander who said this became necessary because this is an unusual times stressed that,”under normal circumstances you are not supposed too see Army or Air Force officers curbing internal security,it is strictly the responsibilities of the police,but this is an unusual times .We have been on standby since about two weeks ago up till this moment I’m speaking with you because there is an operation going on now so there must be closer ties among the security agencies of the government to fight our common enemies which is the criminal”.

“But I can assure you that we will flush them out wherever they are because they are like golden fish,they have no where to hide.Soit’s just a matter of time”he added.

He however‎ pleaded with the residents of Ilorin to learn to tolerate each other so that peace can reign stressing that anything sort of injustice should not not be encouraged.

Commodore Ishola also said that the need for medical outreach to residents of the Air force community in Ilorin‎ was its corporate responsibility to them,a way of giving back to the society using the 51 Anniversary of Nigerian Airforce as a platform.

He said that the ongoing transition programme and state of economy in the country called for low key celebration as‎ residents were only treated with such ailments as high blood pressure and malaria challenges among others stressing that more complicated ailments were referred to hospital.
