Professor Attahiru Jega

Akure—TWENTY four of the 26 elected members of the Ondo state House of Assembly have been presented with their certificate of returns by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC in the state.
Official reason for withholding that of the two constituencies in Ilaje 1 and Ilaje 11 was not given during the presentation by the Resident Electoral Commissioner Olusegun Agbaje during the ceremony in Akure.
But findings showed that some grey areas have not been cleared in respect of the two constituencies following the double speak by the REC on the declaration of the results.
An official of the Commission told Vanguard that the Certificates of Returns of the two members from the two constituencies were not part of those that the state office of the commission received from the Headquarters.
He told Vanguard in confidence that the national Chairman Prof Attahiru Jega did not sign the certificates before he travelled since the controversy over the result was just cleared last week.
Agbaje had declared the results announced for the two constituencies as inconclusive following an alleged petition by the returning officers that they declared the results under duress after their lives were threatened.
