Governor Mukhtar Yero yesterday said that his administration paid backlog of salaries, allowances and gratuities of workers amounting to N17 billion within the two and a half years of his administration in the state.
“Salaries were always paid as at when due just as allowances were paid and we also settled pension and gratuity arrears that accumulated since 2006, amounting to over N17 billion,” he said in his message to mark today’s Workers Day.
In the statement by his Media Aide, Ahmed Maiyaki, Yero congratulated workers in the state as they commemorate this year’s workers’ day saying “I salute the courage and patriotic commitments of majority of our workers towards moving Kaduna State forward. This was evident by the level of support we received during this period that we have been in office.”
He then expressed appreciation to civil servants in the state for the immense support they gave his administration in the last two and half years.
