WARRI—SOUTH-SOUTH governors have agreed to avoid sentiment and take a position that will unambiguously mirror the mind of the people of the zone when they meet, tomorrow, in Benin-City, Edo State, just as it emerged, yesterday, that an unnamed pro-Yar’Adua group was lobbying them to sit on the fence.

It was gathered that the group infiltrated a number of South-South governors through  selected influential politicians from the zone, but, so far, they have met a brickwall, as the governors were treating the move with circumspect.

But reviewing the attempts and  statements of some South-South leaders, in the past few days, over the governors’  alleged cold attitude to the Vice-President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and his inauguration as Acting President, the governors were said to be amused that some persons deliberately chose to forget that they have  independent minds and that they rose on their own, last year,  to challenge President Umaru Yar’Adua over lack of concrete post-amnesty programme for ex-militants, unfavourable Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB, alleged movement of the Petroleum University, Effurun and other anti-South-South policies.
