Polls: Edo CP warns against violence

BENIN—Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr Samuel Adegbuyi, yesterday, met with stakeholders in the state ahead of the March 28 presidential election, warning that the Police will not tolerate any form of violence before and after the elections.

This came as the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Mr Mike Igini, who reiterated the preparedness of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to use the card reader in the forthcoming polls, admonished politicians to work harder in convincing the electorate to support their candidates, adding that the era of “short cuts” was over with the introduction of the card reader.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Army, Air Force, Civil Defence, leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and members of the civil society.
