Avoid being used for violence, NANS urges students

MAKURDI — The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has urged students to resist being used by self seeking politicians to perpetrate violence and crisis in the country during the forthcoming general elections.

This was part of the resolution adopted by the association at its 70th Senate Meeting, weekend, at the Federal University of Agriculture, in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

The meeting which was presided over by NANS Senate President, Thomas Ochai, also, vowed to expose any politician who wanted to use students to orchestrate crisis.

“We implore students to be watchful and also resist any attempt to be used by some self seeking politicians to perpetrate violence in the forthcoming elections,” NANS stated.

Lamenting the killing of some National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, members who were involved in the conduct of the 2011 general elections, NANS urged the Federal Government to put measures in place to avoid a repeat of such dastardly acts.
