Jonathan not sincere on N75m donation to families of NIS recruitment tragedy —APC Campaign

By Levinus Nwabughiogu

All Progressives Congress Presid-ential Campaign Organ-isation, APCPCO, yesterday, lashed out at President Goodluck Jonathan over his N75 million donation to the 15 families of last year Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) recruitment tragedy, saying he was insincere with the gesture.

APCPCO, in a statement, said it was not against such generosity to the families but that it was mere tokenism, warning Nigerians not to be deceived by an attempt to claim credibility it never had.

While still not against the automatic employment given to the 33 members of the facility, the statement, by the spokesman for the APCPCO, Garba Shehu, stated that the Jonathan administration has, by the act, thrown dust in the eyes of Nigerians by pretending to be caring on the first anniversary of the NISn recruitment tragedy.

“Paying compensation to the families of the victims is a welcome idea, but the lack of sincerity by the Jonathan’s government has morally tainted what was supposed to be a humanitarian gesture”, the APCPCO said.

The Campaign Organisation also submitted that it was morally outrageous to spare the public officials whose greed led Nigeria to the recruitment tragedy.
