UMUAHIA— AN Abian, Mezie Abia Organization (MAO) has commended President Goodluck Jonathan over the nomination of PDP South East chairman, Col. Austin Akobundu who has been confirmed as minister by the Senate, saying his appointment would add value to the present administration.

In a statement in Umuahia, the group described Akobundu’s nomination as “timely and well deserved”, describing him as “a round peg in a round hole which cannot be faulted by any individual or group.”

The statement signed by the President-General of the group, Hon Nelson Uche and the Secretary, Comrade Eze Nwosu said: “It is our position that since Abia’s top political and economic positions are shared between the two major political blocs, Old Bende and Ukwa Ngwa and since the last occupant of a ministerial seat that should come from the state was Chief Emeka Wogu, an indigene of Ukwa Ngwa, equity and justice demand that after the Ukwa Ngwa bloc, the seat should rotate to Old Bende.
