Managing Director of Tentpeg Communication Network Limited, Goddy Ogheneajakpor, has stressed the need for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC and the National Assembly to probe the collection of National Automative Council, NAC levy over the years.

The Federal government had established the NAC in the early1990’s and directed the NCS to commence the collection of two percent levy on all automobile imported into the country to help develop the local automobile industry.
The Tentpeg boss pointed out that the purpose for the collection of the fund over the years has not been met, noting that nothing concrete has been done to achieve the purpose for the establishment until the recent efforts at attracting assembling plants into the country.
According to him, “There is need for the public to know how much the Council has so far collected till date, what the money is used for and if it is in line with the law establishing it? There is too much lawlessness in the country and people are not being made accountable for responsibilities given to them, especially in government.
“All these noise about assembly plant is only scratching the surface. What was the purpose of establishing the council, were they able to meet that responsibility? If not, those in charge over the years should be made to answer to Nigerian.
