Bauchi—Bauchi State police command yesterday announced the arrest of four suspected kidnappers after rescuing from them three-year-old Abdulkadir Salmanu.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Haruna Mohammed, said in a release that the suspects were arrested by police detectives attached to Police Township Division in the state.
The suspects arrested include Salisu Abdullahi Salmanu, 19; Imrana Abdullahi, 17; Abdullahi Mohammed and Umar Musa, 19.
Mohammed said the suspects conspired with four others now at large to kidnap the three-years-old boy of Kofar Idi in Bauchi and took him to Gwallameji and demanded N10 million ransom from the parents.
He said: “On February 28, at about 12pm, police detectives attached to the Police Township Division arrested four suspects for kidnapping a three-year-old boy, Abdulkadir Salmanu, and demanded a ten million ransom from his parents.
“The suspects were arrested by the police detectives attached to Police Township Division in the state, following a tip-off from some residents in the state.”
He said the victim was liberated by the police, adding that effort was on to apprehend other fleeing suspects.
