Man, 36, charged with causing police inspector’s death

Lagos State Police Command has charged one Alimi Muniru, 36, before an Ikeja magistrate court in Lagos for allegedly driving against traffic and causing the death of one Inspector Lucky Oyaghire, 39, along Abeokuta Expressway, Agege, Lagos.

The accused was arraigned by the police on a count charge, but when the offence was read to him, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector Eranus Nnamonu, informed the court that the offence was contrary and punishable under Section 27 (1) Cap. 172 Vol. 7 of Road Traffic Laws, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.

Magistrate Abimbola Komolafe granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties, who must be blood relatives and should have paid tax for a period of three years.

Magistrate Komolafe adjourned the matter to April 2.
