What is, however, off-putting is that security agents do little or practically nothing in most cases to check the irritating infringement.

A number of communities are really scandalous for the malady. In Delta state, Ekpan in Uvwie local government area used to be the hotbed of criminality, but Kokori in Ethiope- East local government area has snatched the reprehensible record of the riskiest community in the state.

Efforts by security agencies to dislodge the rampaging criminals in the last two years, particularly after kidnap and armed robbery kingpin, Kelvin Oniarah, was apprehended in 2013, had been largely ineffective.

The situation has degenerated to the extent that one could be captured for between N5, 000- N10, 000 ransoms in the community. However, a villager told Niger Delta Voice, weekend, that the Kokori Bakassi had sacked the criminals. Despite the mouthed feat, it still remains the most feared community in the state.

Amagba community, blessed with vast expanse of land is the most volatile community in Edo state. The state of affairs in the community is quite worrisome. Youths, mainly cultists not only parade the streets with arms; they determine who rules the town to protect their money-making interests.

The police in the state are weary of the frequent cases of unrest in the area while residents are mortally afraid of the troublesome youths.

In Rivers state, cultists have made life excruciating for the people of Ibaa, Omoku and Buguma communi-ties. Countless residents had fled the towns for fear of cultists.

In Bayelsa, the chanciest places to be are the Azuzuama, Lobia and Igbomotoru, Ogbia-Nembe-Brass waterways of the state.

The Joint Task Force, JTF, police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC  are battling the sea pirates, but so far, it is no retreat, no surrender.

Call Calabar South local government area, a traditional worshiper in Cross –River state is prepared to swear that Jesus is Lord; it is as precarious as that.

In Akwa-Ibom state, Itu-Mbak Itam is a stranglehold of criminals and despite attempts by the police to demobilize them, they remain sturdy in the area.
