Abuja—The INEC Chairman. Professor Maurice Iwu, yesterday expressed satisfaction with the arrangements made by the Commission to ensure a hitch-free governorship election in Anambra State slated for February 6.
The chairman, who spoke at a luncheon organised for Bureau Chiefs of media houses in Abuja, commended the governorship candidates for their issue oriented campaigns, adding that there was nothing wrong with aggrieved candidates going to court to seek redress.
“It has been all talk and talk. We want to sustain the momentum because we want an election where even the loser will accept the result,†he said.
On funding of the activities of the commission, Iwu said that the Commission had special fund for electoral processes, which, he noted, could not be used for other purposes.
“Nobody can hold the Commission to ransom. Our forward looking planning is beginning to bear fruits, so we have enough to prosecute the Anambra State poll,’’ he said.
