Navy intercepts vessel laden with N28.8m illegally  refined AGO

Yenagoa—The Nigerian Navy Central Naval Command, CNC, yesterday intercepted a locally-made vessel, MV MERCY with suspected illegally refined Automated Gas Oil, AGO, worth N28.8 million.

It was learnt that the vessel, which was arrested by a naval patrol boat on the Furopa waterways in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State had seven suspected oil thieves on board.
The product, said to be 180,000 litres, was valued at N28.8m.
The suspects, vessel and substance were handed over to the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, for further investigation and prosecution.
