BENIN CITY—ORGANISERS of the International Youth Summit,  being hosted at the Faith Arena, Church of God Mission, Benin City, yesterday, decried the number of unemployed graduates in the country, calling on government at all levels to tackle the problem with all seriousness.

The organisers of the youth programme led by Rev.Osas Obarisiagbon and Rev. Osayande Ekhator, told newsmen in Benin City, that to help solve the unemployment problem in the country, more than 5,000 youths were expected to benefit from the training workshop on business management, training in agriculture, fashion designing and other  skills.
Rev. Obarisiagbon who disclosed that the 2014 Youth Summit which would run from the 19 -24 of August, 2014, said the topic of this year’s summit entitled: “Commissioned and Empowered” was geared towards empowering the youths of the country including Muslim youths, due to the large number of unemployed graduates in the country.

According to him, “we are inviting the Minister of Agriculture and the Chief of Air Staff, so that they will come and teach our youths on how to be self employed. We are having different training programmes in this year’s summit. We are going to pay the trainers and we expect that after that, those who benefited from the training will be able to set up their own businesses.”
