UMUAHIA—A stalwart of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Abia State, Chief Ukpai Agwu, has said neither Senator Nkechi Nwogu nor the Managing Director of Diamond Bank, Dr. Alex Otti, would pick the Abia PDP governorship ticket in the 2015 election because of the party’s zoning policy in the state.
He, however, quoted Governor Theodore Orji as saying they were free to run, since they had the democratic rights to do so.
The governor had said that he would honour the party’s rotational formula, which zoned the governorship seat to Abia South senatorial district.
Agwu, who spoke to Vanguard against the backdrop of protests by the two gubernatorial aspirants, said the zoning formula technically excluded them from contesting.
