LAGOS — Son of former Oyo State governor, Rasheed Ladoja, Adebola, yesterday, lost his life in an auto crash that occurred on Eko bridge, Lagos.

The incident, as gathered, occurred at about 3.30 p.m after a DAF truck with registration number, JJJ 59 XA, said to have lost control, skidded off its lane to the median of the bridge and in the process, rammed into Adebola’s Golf saloon car with number plate AKD 107 CJ. He was reportedly alone in the car and was driving towards Lagos Island.

Eye witnesses said late Adebola would have survived had help come on time. Rather than rush him to the hospital, it was gathered that motorists who stopped immediately the incident occurred were debating on what step to take to save the victim’s life, while others were taking shots of the scene.

But they were said to have held on to driver of the truck, one Justice Osaghai, alleged to have attempted to flee the scene. But for the timely arrival of policemen, the driver would have been lynched by a mob.
Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, reportedly arrived the scene to ensure free flow of traffic.

Spokes person for the Lagos State Police Command, Ngozi Braide, who confirmed the incident said: “The victim died on the spot. The corpse has been removed to the Lagos Island General Hospital mortuary for autopsy while the truck driver has been arrested.”

At Ladoja’s residence
The Bodija residence of the former governor Ladoja was devoid of the usual political activities that characterised the place, yesterday evening.
His teeming followers were said to have been on break since he went for the National Conference in Abuja.

When Vanguard called on the chairman of his party, Accord, in the state, Architect Lawal Bashir, he said he was yet to hear anything concerning the politician’s son’s death. Another media aide, Alhaji Lanre Latinwo, also said he was yet to hear the news.

He said: “The former governor is not at home. We expected him at a youth programme but we did not see him. He was to attend the eighth-day fidau prayer of the mother of his chairman. He must be in that place now.”
