Muslims in the FCT on Friday offered special prayers for the repose of the souls of victims of the May 1 bomb blast in Nyanya, a suburb of Abuja.
The Muslims, who attended Juma’at prayers at the Abdullahi Dantata Mosque, also prayed for the quick recovery of the survivors.
The Chief Imam of the Mosque, Alhaji Muhammed Abdullahi, who led the prayer, urged Muslims to also offer special prayers for peace and unity to solve the problems facing the country.
“We should pray to Allah for the peace, progress and prosperity of our country,” Abdullahi said.
He admonished the faithful to repent from their sins and rededicate themselves to Allah.
He also urged Muslims to be closer to Allah by saying their five daily obligatory prayers as stipulated in the Holy Qur’an and Hadith (sayings and deeds of Prophet Muhammad).
According to him, Muslims should use the prayer periods to pray for peace, unity and prosperity of the country.
Abdullahi further enjoined Nigerians to contribute in fast tracking the development of the country.
“Nigeria is the only country we have, so we must join hands to make it the envy of other countries in the world.
“We should love our neighbours as well as be our brothers’ keepers, irrespective of ethnic or
religious difference,” Abdullahi urged. (NAN)
