First Lady of Ogun State, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun   has stated that the 20 best students who emerged in 2012/2013 WAEC from Ogun State will be flown abroad for leadership training.
She said, “We will be taking the best students abroad for leadership training programme in the first quarter of 2014 as a reward for their excellent performance in the last WAEC.”

Speaking during the unveiling of the 20 best SS3 students from public secondary schools held at the Progress Hall, South-West Resource Centre,   Abeokuta, Ogun State, Amosun urged students to work towards possessing good leadership qualities in the course of their studies.
She disclosed that the 20 best students in WAEC were drawn from each of the 20 Local Government areas of the state.

Amosun who tasked the 20 beneficiaries on giving their best as ambassadors of the state noted that such quality will leave the door of opportunity open for other students to benefit in the programme come 2014 and beyond.
She explained that the leadership training was to serve as a motivation for students to study hard in order to improve in their studies.

According to her, education is in the fore-front of the agenda of the present administration in the state adding, “the present government places high premium on the welfare of children and youths.”
Meanwhile, in its welcome address, the state Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Barr. Segun Odubela pointed out that the programme was an opportunity for the students to have a feel of the dividend of democracy as put together by the wife of the governor to complement the efforts of the state government in improving the standard of education in the state.

He advised the new beneficiaries to emulate the virtues of the last beneficiaries by taking good advantage of the programme with the aim of contributing their quota to the development of the state.
On behalf of the students, Master Sobowale Bukola expressed appreciation to Mrs. Amosun for fulfilling her promise as advertised in the media to recognise excellence in the WAEC results, saying this has helped boost his morale and motivated him to study hard for the examination.
