IF elected, Chief Willie Obiano of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has promised to ensure that women constitute at least 35 per cent of all his appointments.

In an interview with reporters shortly after attending the sensitisation workshop for political parties and stakeholders in Awka, Obiano also promised to establish more vocational and skills acquisition centres in the state.

He insisted that he has a bright chance of winning the election because of his pedigree and that of his running mate, Dr Nkem Okeke, which he claimed were light years ahead of those of his opponents.

“It is very clear we are going to win. The pedigree of my candidacy is giving me confidence compared to my co-contestants…Based on my rich academic and career background, the electorate have seen the difference. Some of my opponents have NECO, which is not what Anambra people need.”

Asked his plan for Anambra, Obiano outlined his “Anambra wheel of Development” blueprint, saying: Governor Peter Obi has done well in terms of laying the foundation for economic development through projects in education, health, roads, infrastructure, tourism, security, etc, which are economic enablers.

We are coming to build on this foundation to launch Anambra into industrialization through four pillars-Agriculture; oil and gas; industrialization; and trade and commerce.

He said he would pursue 4Cs policy of continuing and completing the ‘enablers’ Governor Obi had started, and commencing and commissioning his own projects.

Through the projects, Obiano said his government would generate quantum of jobs for Anambra youth, boost internally generated revenue and use his network of contacts to get foreign funds to accomplish his development of the state.
