Eminent Nigerians, yesterday, converged at the Ukehe country home of former Information Minister, Chief John Nnia Nwodo in Igbo Etiti local government area of Enugu state to pay their last respect to his fallen wife, a Justice of the Court of Appeal, Justice Regina Nwodo, whose remains were interred  amidst glowing tributes.

Justice Nwodo, who served at the Abuja Judicial division, passed on at a London hospital on August 6 while on vacation in United Kingdom and her corpse was flown into the country last week when she began her last journey home with several funeral activities held in her honour in Abuja, Enugu and Anambra State. President Goodluck Jonathan who was represented at the occasion by the Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, poured encomiums on the departed Justice of the Appeal Court, describing her as “an honest, truthful and incorruptible judge whose demise will leave a vacuum in the family and Nigeria in general”.

Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha Province, Rev. Dr. Valerian Okeke who delivered a homily at a pontifical funeral mass that preceded her burial,  urged Christians to” emulate the virtue of incorruptibility as exemplified by Justice Nwodo stemming from  the torrential testimonies bestowed on her while she was on the bench”.

Speaking on behalf of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Governor Goodwill Akpabio of Akwa-Ibiom state lashed out at the opposition saying, “the fate of more than 167 million Nigerians cannot be left in the hands of an opposition who continues to change its name like Chameleons. The opposition is in disarray. They have changed name six times. I urge Nigerians to rely on PDP to deliver the much expected dividends of democracy”.
