Jonathan urged to resolve PDP crisis

By JIMITOTA ONOYUME

PORT HARCOURT— FORMER Chief Whip of Delta State House of Assembly, Mr Ejaife Odebala, has urged President Goodluck Jonathan to take practical steps to rescue the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP from collapse.

Lamenting the crisis rocking the party, Odebala, who described President Jonathan as the National Leader of the party, expressed hope that the party would overcome its current challenges.

On the re-run  senatorial election coming up in Delta Central senatorial district, Odebala  denied rumours  that he was planning to contest the election.

According to him, he was supporting Chief Ighoyota Amori.

He said: “I believe we should give Amori the chance to represent Delta Central. Amori has been very loyal and active politically in PDP. He has worked faithfully for all the politically leaders in the state and in Delta Central. He has been a leader to most of the politician in the state. He has the dexterity and doggedness to represent Urhobo this time at the National Assembly.”

“While Amori was a Commissioner in Delta, he used to have Wednesday meeting in Asaba where Urhobo converged to discuss the interest of Urhobo people.  He influenced appointments of several Urhobo people. As Commissioner for Education, there were scholarships for Delta children to study abroad. He gave board appointments to many. With that kind of skill in creating opportunities for Urhobo, I think that is the kind of person we need now to bring things home. We need somebody like him to build bridges,” he said.
