Ahead of the November 16 governorship poll in Anambra State, a group, Odimma Anambra Development Association, yesterday called on the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, to be transparent and unbiased in the conduct of the election.

In a statement by its chairman, Okechukwu Asika, said the election would be free and fair, if the electoral umpire and all the parties involved played by the rules.

It stressed the need for  parties, including the electorate, to shun violence and focus on a hitch free election in a manner that would allow the best candidate emerge.

The group, led by its Chairman, Mr. Okechukwu Asika, said it had resolved to engage all stakeholders in the process to work towards actualizing a free and fair election in the state.

He insisted that the era of ‘’God Father’’ had gone in the state, warning that the group would do everything possible to resist any attempt by persons or political parties to impose candidates on the state”.
