AWKA — Nsukka zone of Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, yesterday, disowned the ASUU splinter group formed recently by some aggrieved lecturers of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, UNIZIK, Awka, over the manner its local ASUU branch was being run.
The Nsukka zone of ASUU comprises Abia State University, Uturu, Anambra State University, Uli, Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, Enugu State University of Technology, Enugu, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka and University of Nigeria, Nsukka and the members were in Awka on a solidarity visit to the UNIZIK ASUU.
Coordinator of Nsukka zone of ASUU, Dr. Chidi Osuagwu, said at a news conference in Awka that the group known as ASUU NAU Progressives, which is a breakaway group from UNIZIK ASUU, was not recognised by ASUU.
He added that as a registered trade union in Nigeria, ASUU was one united and very disciplined body.
