LAGOS—CHAIRMAN of Delta State Economic Advisory Team, Mr. Bismark Rewane, has said that the Warri Industrial Business Park, WIBP, will create 50,000 jobs for Deltans within five years.

Rewane, who briefed reporters in Lagos after a meeting of the team, said the go-getting project initiated by Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, who attended the briefing, had not been abandoned, as the ground breaking ceremony to signal the commencement of will would take place in the second quarter of the year.

He said: “WIBP, which has the potential to create 50,000 jobs within five years, is a massive investment that involves a significant commitment from the government and the private sector.”

He said the location of the park was such that many economic activities will take place in the area in line with the Delta beyond Oil policy of Governor Uduaghan’s administration.

Rewane noted that with two and a half years to the end of the Uduaghan administration, all hands should be on deck to ensure that the governor’s vision of positioning the state for prosperous years beyond oil was achieved.

Rewane, flanked by the Commissioner for Information, Mr Chike Ogeah and his Economic Planning counterpart, Mr. Kenneth Okpara,  threw more to light on the outcome of the meeting, saying, “the meeting was very constructive. We evaluated where we stand and are satisfied that the team is working hard to achieve our goals.”
