Oyerinde: Oshiomhole to appear before House of Reps tomorrow

BY SIMON EBEGBULEM

BENIN—GOVERNOR Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, will tomorrow appear before the House of Representatives Committee on Public Petition, following the petition by a coalition of civil society organisations in Edo State, over Police handling of the investigation into the murder of his late Principal Private Secretary, Mr. Olaitan Oyerinde.

Meanwhile, Trade Union Congress, TUC, has backed Governor Oshiomhole’s call for justice in the murder of late Oyerinde, just as it regretted what it described as the “unedifying” role played by the Nigeria Police in the matter.

Conference of Non-Governmental Organisations, CONGOS, had petitioned the Mr. Uzo Azubuike-led House Committee on Public Petitions, after it accused the police of alleged cover up and professional misconduct in the investigation into the murder of Oyerinde on May 4, 2012, in Benin City.

It condemned what it described as an attempt to frame up the Executive Director of African Network for Environment and Economic Justice, ANEEJ, Rev. David Ugolor, who also is a bosom friend of the deceased with a view to shielding the real killers of Oyerinde.
