ABUJA—MINISTER of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Senator Muhammad Adamu Aliero said weekend that arrangements have been concluded where residents in the territory would withhold their waste and sell them to the highest bidder.

Speaking during an unscheduled inspection of some districts in the Federal Capital City (FCC), Abuja to assess the performance of cleaning contractors that were recently engaged, Aliero said, “with all the arrangements being worked out under the Public-Private-Partnership to generate electricity and fertilizer from waste in addition to the efforts being made by the Federal Government, households in Abuja will very soon enjoy the liberty of selling their waste”.

According to him, the partnership will require high volume of solid waste which would call for stiff competition among the two dump sites now being worked upon, adding that the era of uncollected refuse would soon be a thing of the past in the Federal Capital Territory since solid waste would continuously be needed to generate electricity as well as the production of fertilizer.
