BENIN CITY —  A comprehensive healthcare and trauma centre  is to be established by the Federal Government at  Iyamoh the home town of  Governor Adams Oshiomhole in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.

The Centre, when completed, would provide comprehensive primary health care services as well as first point of care for accident victims. It would be affiliated to the Federal Government-owned Irrua Specialist Hospital,

The Chief Medical Director of Irrua Specialist Hospital, Professor George Akpede, made this known when the Senior Security Adviser to the Governor, Mr. Mukaila Kadiri; Chairman of the Board of Manbagement of the Irrua Specialist Hospital, Dr. Joe Itafo-Okey, Chief Evelyn Igbafe and other members of the board undertook an inspection visit of the proposed site for the project at the weekend.

Professor Akpede said the provision of health care was the joint responsibility of government at all levels, insisting that the Federal government through the Federal Ministry of Health and the Minister of Health were at Iyamoh to partner with the Edo state government.

He stressed that everyone had responsibility for their health, advising that the coming of the hospital with the services it would provide should not be seen as an end.

Appealing to the Iyamoh community to put the hospital to good use, Akpede call public spirited organizations, individuals and other stakeholders to join hands with the government to ensure that the hospital was put into proper use with a view to achieving the purpose for which it was established.

Addressing the visitors,the traditional ruler of Iyamoh, Chief Bashiru Etamesor, whose community provided the site for the project, said they were happy that the government was coming to their aid in the area of health care; a need, he added, was a priority to his community and the environs.

Chief Etamesor assured that his people and those of other neighbouring communities would take advantage of the services the comprehensive health care and trauma centre would provide.
