Teenager in court for alleged fogery of NDIC passbook

LAGOS—A teenager, Garuba Damilola, yesterday appeared before a Tinubu Magistrate’s Court in Lagos, for allegedly attempting to defraud the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, NDIC, of N143,000.

Damilola, 19, is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, forgery and impersonation along with one Laurel Shaba, 37.

The Police Prosecutor, Francisca Okere, said the duo committed the offence on December 19, 2012, at 2:50p.m. at the NDIC office, No. 23A, Marina, Lagos.

“Damilola claimed to be one Osita Ezenwafor and presented a forged savings passbook for the sum of N143,000,” she said.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty, and were granted bail by the Magistrate, Mrs. Olabisi Kusanu, in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties each. Kusanu adjourned the case till January 24 for continuation. (NAN)
