Security beef up in Edo as Oshiomhole takes oath of office

By SIMON EBEGBULEM

BENIN—ALL is set for the inauguration of Governor Adams Oshiomhole for a second term in office at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, today.

A joint patrol of the Army and mobile policemen cordoned off the entire stadium area.

Meanwhile, National Coordinator of  Oshiomhole Peoples Brigade, Athanasius Ugbome, and a chieftain of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Elder Sunny Uyigue, have expressed optimism that Oshiomhole will perform better in his second term than he did in the first term.

However, political tension heightened in the state as lobbyists intensified efforts to secure political offices for their cronies, following the dissolution of the state Executive Council and all political appointments by the governor last week.

There are indications that the governor may retain the current Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Simon Imuekheme, whose appointment may be announced this week.
